What is Romance Sparks Joy?
Romance Sparks Joy is the brain child of Courtney Milan but realized by a varied group of readers, writers, editors, librarians, and many others. We want to bring attention to authors of color (AOC) in the romance genre, starting with the three AOC who were nominated for RITAs in 2019. Our overall mission has expanded since then to include other marginalized voices in romance.
When did you start?
We started reading on April 15th, 2019 with BAD BLOOD by M. Malone.
What books are you reading?
You can see all of the books we’ve read and next month’s title on our Book List.
Can I recommend a book for RSJ?
Absolutely! If you’d like to suggest other books by AOC or other underrepresented groups, we’d love to read them. You can contact us directly on Twitter or via email, or you can fill out the form on our Contact page.
How can I participate?
Follow us on Twitter to stay up-to-date with RSJ. You can also participate in our monthly Twitter Read-A-Longs, which happen on the second Thursday of every month, and author Q&A’s on the last Sunday of the month.
How can I get a copy of the book you’re currently reading?
Most of the books we read can be purchased on Amazon or requested through your local library. If you aren’t able to get a copy through those resources, we also give away a few copies each month on Twitter.
How can I support Romance Sparks Joy?
If you’re able to, we do take donations. This project is run entirely by volunteers, which means that we’re self-funded. Every little bit helps! If you can’t contribute financially, please spread the word. The more people we can reach with our message of Happily Ever After for Everyone, the better.
